Brown’s Hotel London

The Brown's Hotel in London epitomizes the latest in modern luxury in England. Inside, the British heritage contrasts with contemporary art and design. Elegant and innovative, it is a gateway to one of the most famous areas of the city: Mayfair.

Since its opening in 1837 it has been a mandatory destination for great personalities such as Kipling, Roosevelt, Agatha Christie and Napoleon III. It is the perfect starting point to explore and fall in love with this beautiful and historic city.

Brown’s Hotel has a fascinating history and has hosted many distinguished guests since it opened as London’s first ever hotel in 1837 and to this day this glamorous, five-star establishment welcomes guests ‘in-the-know’. It is from here that Alexander Graham Bell made the first ever UK telephone call; President Roosevelt stayed on his honeymoon and both Agatha Christie and Rudyard Kipling were so inspired that they penned many of their novels whilst staying here.

Nowadays, it belongs to Rocco Forte Hotels. Established by Sir Rocco Forte and sister, Olga Polizzi in 1996, Rocco Forte Hotels is a family of 10 individual hotels and resorts. All of the hotels are landmarks, both old and new, occupying magnificent buildings in exceptional locations. Led by a family who has been in hospitality for four generations, the hotels are united by their distinctive approach to service ensuring guests experience the best of the cities and surrounding areas.

Gastronomy is an essential experience at the Brown’s. Located just off fashionable Dover Street, HIX restaurant is signposted by a unique neon sign designed by Tracey Emin. Taking pride of place above the restaurant door, this artwork complements the special collection of works from celebrated British artists, making this one of the capital’s most spectacular dining rooms. HIX Mayfair at Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel specialises in the finest quality British cooking, using only carefully sourced local seasonal ingredients. Executive Chef Lee Kebble and Director of Food Mark Hix offer an outstanding menu featuring great British classics alongside many lighter fish and shellfish dishes.

Now a London institution, Brown’s Hotel is constantly coming up with new surprises. For instance, throughout the month of May, Brown’s Hotel will be celebrating the arrival of spring and the best of everything floral, transforming The Library into a Secret English Garden in the heart of Mayfair. Filled with the most beautiful seasonal flowers from Ellie Hartley Flowers, The Library will be dressed by our talented resident florist in an abundance of peonies, sweet peas, delphiniums, lilacs and English scented country garden roses.

Another original treat for guests will be the Sylists-in-residence. Former Fashion Editors Laura Fantacci & Petronella Stofberg of Wardrobe ICONS join the panel of experts at Brown’s Hotel as Stylists-in-Residence, sharing with guests their definitive style philosophy. With an enviable list of celebrity clients, Brown’s Hotel are offering guests the opportunity to be styled by this inimitable duo who work with luxury brands Matches & Harvey Nichols.
