On the Train Tracks of History

The glamour of days gone by is revived with each turning of the great steel wheels of the Eastern Orient Express. Built in 1972 in Japan, this majestic train was acquired by the prestigious luxury travel company Belmond, which also operates the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in Europe.

The splendor of Eastern Orienta Express, with its comfortable and elegant rooms and suites, panoramic windows, delicious cuisine, and excellent service, combined with the adventure of a trip through the heart of Asia, is a unique way to experience beauty of this remarkable region. This legendary train is the ultimate way to travel through Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore with style.

Gastronomy is a very important part of this magical trip. Each three-course lunch and dinner (breakfast and afternoon tea are served in our cabin) are exceptionally prepared and presented, a harmonious combination of European and Asian influences.

The trip begins in Bangkok, an emblematic and mysterious city that is the capital and heart of Thailand. Bangkok receives more visitors than any other city in the world, all of who fall in love with this destination full of contrasts and colors. It is in this pearl of the east that we embark on the journey in the Eastern Orient Express.

The adventure continues the next day in the city of Kanchanaburi, in Thailand. In addition to being an area of historical importance in the period of World War II, the area northwest of Kanchanaburi is dominated by the beautiful valleys of the Kwai River. It is an area of great natural beauty, with a dazzling amount of waterfalls, caves, lakes, and mountainous landscapes.

The beautiful scenery changes as we enter Malaysia and the soft landscape of rice fields is interrupted by dramatic mountains. Here we disembark in the city of Kuala Kangsar. Comfortably cradled in a bend of the Perak River, Kuala Kangsar is a well-preserved ancient royal city, brimming with serenity and beautiful palaces.

The adventure comes to an end with the skyscrapers of Singapore rising in the distance. In this cosmopolitan and futuristic city we disembark from the Eastern Orient Express and conclude our journey through time.

Some voyages surpass every expectation and deserve to be called 'a trip of a lifetime'. The experience of exploring Southeast Asia on the Eastern Orient Express of Belmond is without equal: it is a journey through time.
