The culinary arts are paramount in Grand Velas Riviera Maya. A fusion of ingredients, flavors, and species provide an exceptional gastronomical experience in each of its restaurants. The brilliant minds behind this hotel take pride in the work of their celebrated chefs, which come from different countries in the world, including Spain, France and Mexico.

A voyage, a destination, cannot be complete without a culinary experience. Savoring the typical dishes of a region, or touring the diverse restaurants, allowing one’s self to be seduced by each chef’s imagination and the distinct style of each kitchen, is an incredibly important part of discovering and falling in love with a place.

Foremost among Grand Velas's culinary treats is their inventive restaurant Cocina de Autor. Together with Chef Oteiza and Xavier Pérez Stone (named "Best Chef of Mexico" in 2012), Chef Mikel Alonso is the force behind the dynamism of Cocina de Autor. A renowned Spanish chef, chef Alonso brings his vast culinary experience to Grand VelasVelas Riviera Maya.

In this beautiful restaurant, contemporary Basque-inspired cuisine is combined with traditional Mexican ingredients and avant-garde techniques to create creative and unrepeatable dishes.

Awarded with four diamonds by the AAA, their specialty French restaurant Piaf features the fine art of gourmet cuisine. With music by the famous French singer Edith Piaf, the places seduces us with its red and golden decoration. It’s the epitome of the romantic and elegant.

Also awarded with four diamonds by the AAA, the Frida restaurant pays tribute to Mexican art. It’s a seductive dance as we become enthralled by the excellent Mexican food with its touch of modernity. Each dish is a gourmet piece of art that reflects the rich culture heritage of Mexico.

The gourmet menu at Frida includes exquisite dishes like sea bass in yellow ‘mole’ served with coriander rice and tender peas, veal chop in roasted chili sauce served with mashed potatoes, chorizo and onions, and a delicious confit duck with tamarind honey, corn tortillas and a special selection of sauces.

A tour de force, last year the resort entered TripAdvisor’s Hall of Fame for obtaining the Certificate of Excellence for five consecutive years in addition to the Signature Spa being awarded “Best Luxury Resort Spa-The Americas” at the World Luxury Spa Awards 2014.
